Viognier La Balena 2019

This wine takes its name from the vineyard of provenance, in fact la Balena (meaning also “the whale”) is the vineyard where Viognier grapes are grown. It is a legendary white wine of Petra winery in Suvereto. The vines deep their roots in a soil made of clay and sand with some limestone rocks; it is a suited environment for creating a concentrated and balanced Viognier wine.

Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. After fermentation the wine is kept in contact with the fine lees for 9 months, in particular for 6 months it ages with the lees in used barrique. The wine ages one more year in the bottle before being marketed.
