Vin santo occhio di Pernice Fonti e Lecceta
Fonti e Lecceta 2011 is the first harvest of the Occhio di Pernice di Torre a Cona. After the excellent results obtained with Merlaia, the Vin Santo from white grapes, thanks to a splendid harvest with this vintage, the company wanted to integrate the selection of sweet wines with exclusive excellence, born from the selection of the best Sangiovese grapes. The name derives from the estate where the grapes were historically dried, while the label portrays a detail of an ancient print and celebrates the parade of the Rinuccini, historic and prominent Florentine family who built the villa in the eighteenth century from the Quona Castle. of Torre a Cona.
The grapes come from a parcel located 380 meters above sea level, with a yield of 10 quintals per hectare.
Careful selection of the grapes with manual harvesting in small baskets and subsequent drying on the reeds until December
After gentle pressing, it ferments without skins in small 50-liter Slavonian oak casks. In the same barrels it ages for over 5 years. After blending, it rests with at least another year in the bottle.
In recent years, more and more producers have returned to produce greater quantities of Sangiovese-based vin santo, and Fonti e Lecceta is certainly a brilliant example of this.
