Nizza 2021
Oddero’s Nizza wine is structured and complex, thanks to a selection of grapes from old vines and a prolonged aging in oak barrels. Nizza Monferrato is the municipality in the province of Asti in which in 2014 the Nizza DOCG was born. It is a 100% Barbera grapes with a minimum aging of 18 months. The DOCG recognizes a superior quality to the Nizza area and the grapes for this wine come from here. The vineyard extends 250 meters above sea level and the plants are between 30 and 60 years old. The Barbera grape, typically Piedmontese, stands out for the intense color of the wines, the strong fruity aromas and the refreshing taste.
The harvest is manual at the end of September. The grapes are de-stemmed and crushed and the alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with a total maceration of 15 days. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The wine ages for 14-16 months in 40-65 hectoliters oak barrels.
