Lugana Le Fornaci 2021
It is a typical white wine from the Garda area. The compact white clay of the southern shore of Lake Garda has proven to be particularly suited for white wines produced from the indigenous Turbiana grape (also called Trebbiano di Lugana, but has nothing to do with the Trebbiano family). There are three factors that make this territory suitable: the compact and calcareous soil, the huge amount of sunlight and the mild climate due to the proximity of the lake. In particular, the Le Fornaci wine vineyard contains a particularly concentrated limestone stratification in the municipality of Sirmione; in reality they are two distinct plots: one has compact clay and one is sandy. From the grapes of these plots Tommasi produces this typical wine called Le Fornaci, intense, well-rounded and savory, ideal to match lake fish, but also excellent as an aperitif. The white wines of Garda are much loved by the Germans on holiday on the lake; in fact, Lugana wines are widely exported to Germany. They are traditional whites that meet the taste of modern consumers; the white wine Lugana Le Fornaci di Tommasi is just like that: a wine of the Veronese tradition, but also a modern wine, fragrant, savory, perfect for summert-time.
The grapes are pressed and the free-run must ferments in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine ages for a few months in steel in contact with its own lees.
