Chianti Classico 2018 (magnum)
Vallepicciola’s Chianti Classico is a traditional red wine, made with aging in large barrels and without the use of international varieties. To be precise, it is pure Sangiovese from the hills of Castelnuovo Berardenga at 380-440 meters above sea level. The vineyards have a soil rich in galestro (friable clayey rock) and alberese (limestone). The microclimate of Castelnuovo Berardenga is tempered and conditioned above all by brightness, as the territory is completely open to the south. This gives the wines a remarkable structure with fruity and balsamic scents.
The 2018 vintage had a fluctuating season which overall produced wines with good structure and balance. The Sangiovese grapes for this Chianti Classico are harvested between the end of September and the beginning of October. The grapes ferment in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with a maceration of 10 days. The wine also carries out malolactic fermentation and ages in large French oak barrels for 12 months.
